W01 Reflection

I must admit I wasn't too excited to take a course on entrepreneurship. I am closer to retirement then most college students and I'm pleased with my career so far. However, after reading some of the articles this week, I have gained a little excitement to do some self-exploration. At this point I'm not sure if these exercises will change my career path but after praying and reading Elder Bednar talk, I feel that it is important for me to continue to seek knowledge and strengthen my mind. I also appreciated his reminder of how important it is to live the law of consecration. Well, I am good at paying tithing Anne helping when asked, I need to do better about consecrating my time to building up the Kingdom of God. Elder Bednar also talks about the importance of being self-reliant. He quoted President Romney about a person without means to support themselves cannot help supporting others around them whether you are talking financially emotionally or physically.

President Hinckley's off-the-cuff talk to college students is full of raw emotion. I couldn't help but think of how much love president Hinckley had and I am grateful for the wisdom that he shared with us well he was a prophet among us.  While he said it in jest, he is so correct that it doesn't take geniuses to change the world it takes people willing to work. Of course, President Hinckley was the prophet when I was on my mission, so he holds a special place in my heart.

I also learned that I need to be cognizant more of my personal brand as well as network more on social media sites. I also need to do more in my career to help my allies and be an asset to them and help them along on their journeys. It's easy to get caught up in what others can do for me but I also have to remember to contribute in positive ways to my acquaintances and friends in the workplace.
